DE0628: Diabetes Online CDE: The Developmental Origins of Obesity and Diabetes
This seminar will provide an overview of developmental origins of health and disease with a focus on preconception factors that lead to an offspring’s increased vulnerability for obesity and diabetes later in life and trans-generationally. Strategies to mitigate these risks will also be discussed both at the individual and community level.
1. Explain developmental origins of health and disease.
2. Reference research linking environmental and in-utero stressors of the risk for obesity and diabetes later in life and in successive generations.
3. Consider implementing identified strategies to reduce in-utero stressors as a means of preventing diabetes and chronic disease.

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
