Everyone needs physical activity to be healthy. Health care providers and other professionals have a key role in promoting physical activity. The Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans and Move Your Way campaign are essential resources for health professionals. They include recommendations for Americans ages 3 years and over — including people at increased risk of chronic disease — and provide evidence-based advice on how physical activity can help promote health and reduce the risk of chronic disease.
1. Use the Physical Activity Guidelines to provide evidence-based guidance on physical activity, fitness, and health for patients.
2. Select appropriate Move Your Way materials to use in sharing important physical activity messages with patients and communities.
3. Teach adults and children about recommended weekly physical activity targets.
