Summary:

This course occurs at multiple sites in the Portland Area IHS, during site visits and virtual meetings by the Northwest Tribal Dental Support Center. Upon completion of the presentations, the Northwest Tribal Dental Support Center will provide attendees with the course completion code.

This 1-2 hour presentation [which may be just virtual or virtual and in-person] is intended to provide the dental staff an orientation on AI/AN oral health care.
It will include the very latest information on the prevention and management of dental caries and periodontal diseases. Clinical and community-based interventions will be presented as well as a public health approach at treatment planning. Speakers will review dental program GPRA objectives, public health principles, and effective health education strategies. Finally, the speakers will describe the roles and responsibilities of the support center and resources available to dental staff.

Learning Objectives:

1.   Understand the various methods to deliver oral health care to American Indian and Alaska Native [AI/AN] communities.
2.   Learn how to manage your dental program to best meet the oral health needs of your AI/AN community.
3.   Recognize the relevancy of available resources available throughout the Portland Area.

Tuition Policy:

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
