Summary:

In 2023, the American Academy of Pediatrics release new guidelines for the evaluation and treatment of children and adolescents with obesity. This presentation will discuss the new guidelines, as well as the Childhood Obesity Government Performance & Results Act [GPRA] performance measure and strategies for meeting the measure target.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
1.   Examine the recommendations made in the 2023 AAP Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Evaluation and Treatment of Children and Adolescents with Obesity.
2.   Identify the physical and mental health implications of childhood obesity.
3.   Employ the guidelines within the context of complex societal factors contributing to childhood obesity.

Tuition Policy:

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
