2023 Catalog: General Courses

This webinar is available to IHS, tribal, and urban dental staff in the Portland Area.

Healthy Healers is an 8 module curriculum developed by the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium to promote resiliency and self-care among our rural healthcare providers including Community Health Aides, Behavioral Health Aides and Dental Health Aides. This 1.5 hour session will highlight key components of the curriculum to guide participants to develop and adopt self-care habits, identify and address the symptoms of compassion fatigue, and identify ways to prevent and manage stress in the workplace. The curriculum is culturally responsive and includes teachings from our Elders alongside best practices for promoting self-care from Western science.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
1.   Describe how the brain and body responds to stress
2.   Describe and practice positive self-talk and physical wellness
3.   Understand concepts of mindfulness

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
