IHS Director's Award for COVID-19 Pandemic Heroism
Purpose:
The 2020 COVID-19 Pandemic Heroism Award was created to recognize exceptional, dedicated work and selfless responses in the face of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. This award recognizes service that advanced the IHS mission and vision through work focused on the aims and objectives in the IHS COVID-19 Action Plan:
- Prevent the Spread of COVID-19
- Detect Cases of COVID-19
- Treat COVID-19 Cases and Sustain Regular Operations
- Manage Resources
- Provide Comprehensive Situational Awareness of COVID-19 Activities
Eligibility:
All IHS employees or team of employees, including Tribal employees and contractors. Teams may consist of employees from the same organization or from a number of different organizations.
Criteria:
- Exceptional initiative and leadership in carrying out COVID-19 activities or projects to improve the quality of care and the service delivery processes
- Innovative efforts to solve problems/address issues that related to the COVID-19 pandemic
- Unusual acts of competence, compassion, or heroism during the COVID-19 pandemic
