New Employee Orientation

Welcome to the New Employee Orientation Program!

As the IHS Office of Human Resources (OHR) continues to realign, we are excited to launch the new Enterprise New Employee Orientation.  This virtual session, hosted via Microsoft Teams, will typically last 3 hours and is designed to provide new hires with a comprehensive, engaging introduction to our agency. 

A Teams link will be sent by HR to new employees directly. Human Resources information, such as health benefits, retirement, leave, etc. will be presented to new employees. 

Sessions will be routinely scheduled for the first Monday each new pay period 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm eastern. In the event the first Monday of the pay period is a holiday, the NEO will be conducted on Tuesday.

Current IHS staff can access recorded sessions and other onboarding materials at the HR Training Center's NEO page on SharePoint.  VPN access is required.

Additional Information for Area/Service Unit/Facility leaders:

  1. This is a live event scheduled from 1:00pm to 4:00pm EST, featuring a series of speakers who will address various key topics on performance management, benefits and much more.
  2. Individual computers or laptops are not required for employees to view the session. If your Area or Service Unit has a conference room with a monitor or screen, the session can be streamed for group viewing.
  3. Direct interaction with speakers is not necessary during the event.  Contact information we will be provided for employees who may have follow-up questions after the session.
  4. The IHS-wide HR NEO session will serve as a replacement for individual Service Unit or Facility level HR trainings, as many Service Units will no longer have dedicated HR support at the local level. However, you are encouraged to continue including Area-specific NEO content – particularly information relevant to your Area, Service Unit or Facility, that may not be covered in the IHS-wide NEO sessions.
