Planning is basically the process of thinking about and organizing the activities required to achieve a desired goal. Planning activities in the Indian Health Service include a broad range of guidance and support functions, including strategic planning, evaluation planning, facility planning, and research planning. Headquarters (HQ) planning activities include working toward agency goals with other HQ Offices and Area Planning Officers and maintaining and providing training on agency planning tools. This includes the Health Systems Planning (HSP) and the Resource Requirements Methodology (RRM) systems.
