Labor and Delivery

Services Description

Thresholds for the Labor and Delivery service are 125 lowrisk births for a low risk Birthing Center and 300 total births for initial full service Ob/Gyn services. These thresholds are in place to ensure quality care for patients and adequate workloads to maintain the skills of clinicians.

Staffing Criteria

* Fixed Registered Nurse - Obstetrics staff of 1 FTE for every 1 OB/GYN ADPL, plus 1.50 FTE for every 200 deliveries above 400 deliveries.

* Fixed LPN/Technician - Obstetrics Staff of 0.5 FTE for every 1 OB/GYN ADPL.

* Fixed Clerical Support - Obstetrics staff of 0.10 FTE for every 1 OB/GYN ADPL plus 0.50 FTE for every 200 deliveries over 400 deliveries.
