Overview

The RRM Social Services staffing module estimates the requirements for MSW counselors and MSW para-professionals to identify and provide treatment for the emotional, social, and psychological problems of their clients utilizing knowledge of and contacts with federal, state, and local agencies to meet the clients' needs. The workload parameters that are the key variables in the staffing estimation are Average Daily Patient Load and User Population.

Services Description:

Social services include:

  • Identifying the emotional and social needs of the Indian clients and their families
  • Identifying and treating psychosocial problems related to the client's illness and/or treatment
  • Utilizing knowledge of and contacts with federal, state, and local agencies to meet the health, social, and economic needs of the Indian community.
  • Protecting vulnerable children and adults who cannot protect themselves from abuse, neglect, and exploitation and fostering the stability and integrity of the family.

Staffing Criteria

0.40 FTEs Social Services Staff for 1,000 or more User Population, plus 0.5 FTE Social Services Staff for every 1,000 User Population over 1,000.

0.10 FTEs MSW Counselors for every 3 Average Daily Patient Load in hospitals.

Note: A clerical staff pool of 0.3 FTE/10,000PCPVs will be formed for Mental Health and Social Services.
