Youth need to get daily physical activity to stay strong and healthy.

Staying active helps youth:

  • Sleep better
  • Be at a healthy weight
  • Have a better mood
  • Build strong muscles and bones
  • Do better in school
  • Improve posture

School Aged (6 years and older) Youth: Older children and teens should engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity, including both aerobic and strengthening activities.

Moderate exercise includes walking, hiking, and swimming.

Vigorous exercise includes playing sports, jumping rope, biking, running, and dancing.
