Telework Guidance

Telework is a flexible work arrangement where employees perform their job duties at an approved alternate worksite. Telework supports the following:

  • Accomplishment of work
  • Productivity
  • Continuity of Operations Plans and emergency preparedness
  • Recruitment/retention
  • Reduction of traffic and emissions
  • Government real estate cost savings
  • Work/life balance

Employees are not entitled to telework. Employees should discuss telework eligibility and arrangements with their supervisors.

IHS is currently in a maximum telework operating posture due to COVID-19. When the IHS is not in a maximum telework posture, the IHS promotes telework as a work/life flexibility for managers and employees when possible.
