Hope for Life Day Toolkit
To change the public conversation around suicide and suicide prevention in American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities, the American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities, the National Suicide Prevention Action Alliance AI/AN Task Force developed the National AI/AN Hope for Life Day toolkit. The toolkit is geared towards professionals and grass-roots organizers working in American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities, to implement a community-wide Hope for Life Day on September 10 of each year. The Hope for Life Day toolkit helps community organizers to take specific steps to change the conversation around suicide, initiate action for awareness, and foster hope in the effort to reduce or eliminate suicide in their community. Organizers are encouraged to host culturally tailored events in their community to promote hope, life, cultural resiliency, and community transformation. The final resolution for Creating an Annual National American Indian and Alaska Native Hope for Life Day (Suicide Prevention Awareness Day) was passed at the 2015 NCAI Mid-Year Conference.
