The dementia and brain health resources below are designed for clinical and community staff working with American Indian and Alaska Native patients.
The IHS Dementia Care Pathway [PDF 1.8 MB] is intended to provide guidance to primary care staff as they care for American Indian and Alaska Native people who may be experiencing cognitive impairment. This tool was developed with Indian Health Service, tribal, and urban Indian health providers and based on most recent clinical evidence as of June 2025.

Dementia Care Pathway for Primary Care
September 19, 2025 – The IHS Dementia Care Pathway webinar provides lessons in recognizing cognitive impairment, gives an overview of the pathway, and provides a panel discussion on how it can be implemented. It is intended to provide guidance to primary care staff as they care for American Indian and Alaska Native people who may be experiencing cognitive impairment.
