Join our IHS Pharmacy Program LISTSERV to stay connected.
The IHS Pharmacy Program serves as the primary source of national advocacy, management, and policy development for IHS pharmacies across the United States. IHS pharmacists are intimately involved in improving patient care through active involvement with Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committees, formulary management, policy and procedure development and education across the healthcare spectrum. IHS pharmacists are pushed beyond traditional pharmacy roles to work at the top of their licensure. As valued members of the interdisciplinary care teams, they are given greater autonomy to make clinical decisions on patients’ behalf to improve pharmaceutical outcomes.
The principal purpose of IHS pharmacy services is to ensure efficacious, safe, and cost-effective drug therapy and appropriate outcomes in the use of drugs and medicines. The IHS pharmacy services require that all pharmacists consider and respect the cultural beliefs of the communities in which they serve.
