Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia impact many lives in American Indian and Alaska Native communities. Alzheimer's is the most common type of dementia in older adults. It leads to problems with memory, finding words, solving problems, and other thinking skills that get worse over time and affect daily life. While there is no cure, the IHS Alzheimer’s Program works to reduce risk factors and improve the quality of life for those living with dementia.
