Description:
Community health assessments are useful in determining how to allocate scarce resources, but their utility is limited when they do not reflect the perspectives, priorities, and experiences of the people they are intended to serve. In this interactive session, participants will explore how to identify the key partners, clarify the roles they play, and use a discovery process to differentiate between perceived versus actual community needs as they relate to social drivers of health.
Presenters:
CAPT Jana Towne, RN, BSN, MHA, Nurse Consultant, Division of diabetes Treatment and Prevention, Indian Health Service (IHS)
Jeff Dickson, REHS, MPH, Director, Environmental Health Support Center, IHS
